Overview
Homegrown 21-day-aged beef and pasture-raised chicken from a family ranch in south-central Kansas
Rattlesnake Meat Company is a family-run ranch owned by Matt and Marci Wooster, selling homegrown 21-day-aged beef and pasture-raised chicken. The name comes from Rattlesnake Creek, which runs through their farm and ranch pastures in the Rattlesnake Creek sub-basin of south-central Kansas. The business was founded in 2020 with a focus on knowing exactly where your meat comes from and who raised it. Cattle are born, raised, and finished on the ranch, and every beef cut is dry-aged for 21 days to develop tenderness and flavor. Chicken is a Cornish Cross breed raised on pasture in rotationally grazed chicken tractors. A retail store in Pratt, KS offers local pickup, and orders also ship nationwide. Learn more on their About Page.
Cattle spend the majority of their lives grazing on native prairie grasses, then finish on a diet of distiller's grain, alfalfa, and Kansas corn for the last 90 days. The ranch states it never uses growth hormone implants and does not use mRNA vaccines. Beef is processed at a USDA-inspected, small-scale facility and dry-aged for 21 days before packaging. Chicken is pasture-raised and rotationally grazed in chicken tractors on pastures the ranch states have not been sprayed. Chicken feed contains no GMOs and no soy, and the ranch states no medications, no vaccines, and no antibiotics are used. Chicken is air-chilled and not injected with water, broth, or filler, and is not bathed in chlorine. The ranch also holds inventory of grass-finished beef.
