Regenerative ranch raising bison, heritage turkeys, and pasture-raised meats in the Texas Hill Country
ROAM Ranch is a 600-acre regenerative farm on river bottom land outside Fredericksburg, started by first-generation farmers Katie Forrest and Taylor Collins. We raise bison, pigs, chickens, ducks, geese, and heritage turkeys in a mixed-species setting that mimics the biodiversity found in nature. Our livestock is central to a large-scale ecosystem restoration process on land that was overfarmed and overgrazed for over a century. Beyond producing meat, we host hands-on events including bison field harvests, turkey field harvests, ranch-to-table feasts, guided axis deer hunts, and regenerative agriculture tours and workshops. Our meat reaches consumers through our sister brand, Force of Nature.
ROAM Ranch practices regenerative agriculture with the goal of rehabilitating degraded land and restoring ecosystems. Animals roam freely across the ranch in a multi-species grazing system designed to mirror nature's complexity. Heritage turkeys are non-GMO and pasture-raised. The ranch rehabilitates land without the use of herbicides or pesticides. Land stewardship is guided by holistic management principles in partnership with the Savory Institute, and the ranch holds Savory Ecological Outcome Verification (EOV) certification. Bison were chosen as a keystone species because, as the ranch states, they are the original ecosystem architects of North America.
