Worker-owned vegetable farm offering a seasonal CSA, farmers market produce, and diversified crops
Hot Spell Farm is a co-operatively run, worker-owned farm growing diversified vegetables in Elgin, Texas. The farm was co-founded by four first-generation farmers who previously worked together on other people's farms, and who set out to create an equitable, multi-owner model for farming in Central Texas. We grow on roughly two acres tucked within the larger 315-acre Three Creeks Farm property, on land stewarded under a conservation easement. Our produce includes diversified vegetables, Asian greens, flowers, and medicinal herbs. We sell at farmers markets, offer a 12-week CSA with local pickup options, and sell directly to wholesale buyers. Our vision is to increase access to nutritionally dense, southern-adapted produce for the metro Austin area and beyond. Learn more on their About Page.
Hot Spell Farm leases its growing space within Three Creeks Farm, a property held under a USDA conservation easement and protected by the Pines and Prairies Land Trust, on land defined by native and prime Blackland Prairie soils. The farm is people and earth-first in its stated orientation. The team describes itself as committed to sustaining the land alongside the people who work it, and the landowner's stewardship focus on environmental preservation is a stated reason the farm chose this site. The farm is worker-owned and collectively operated, with no outside investors, building its operation from the ground up through its own workers' earnings.
