USDA Certified Organic vegetable CSA and flower share farm
Oxen Hill Farm is a family owned and operated farm with land in Suffield and East Granby, CT. The Suffield property has been in the family since the mid-1800s, and the 11th generation of the Griffin family now runs the operation. The farm launched its vegetable and flower CSA in 2009. The Summer Vegetable CSA runs 18 weeks, from late June through mid-October, with three share sizes (Ox, Calf, and Mini) plus pick-your-own herb beds and cherry tomatoes for all Summer members. A Flower and Bouquet share runs for 8 weeks from mid-July through mid-September, and a separate Autumn CSA covers late greens and storage crops biweekly in November and December. Shares are also supplied to local groceries, restaurants, and farmers' markets.
Oxen Hill Farm holds USDA Certified Organic certification for its vegetable production, verified annually through Baystate Organic Certifiers with a written audit, an on-site inspection, and random tissue sampling. Certification means the farm grows produce free of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and genetically modified organisms. The farm is in its fourteenth season of certified organic vegetable production and its seventeenth season of organic vegetable management practices. Required records include seed sources, crop rotation plans, pest management, nutrient stewardship, and soil testing. The flower operation is not certified organic.
