Certified organic vegetable farm and CSA run by refugee farmers
The Refugee Collective is a 501(c)3 nonprofit social enterprise that employs refugees and immigrants in fair-wage work through an organic farm and a textile manufacturing studio. Our 20-acre USDA Certified Organic farm in Elgin, TX reconnects refugees from traditional farming cultures to land in their new communities. The primary farm team grows fresh produce distributed through a weekly CSA program, as well as to restaurants and wholesalers. CSA shares are available for weekly or bi-weekly pickup at multiple locations across Austin, with the Fall 2026 season running from late September through December. Our Traditional Provisions program also gives refugee community farmers the land, supplies, and skills to grow culturally desired produce for their own communities while earning a supplemental income. Learn more on their About Page.
The farm is USDA Certified Organic: no chemical pesticides or fertilizers are used. Soil health is maintained through cover cropping, composting, and crop rotation. The farm practices production-scale regenerative farming methods codified in a Resilient Farm Plan, described as the first of its kind in Texas. The land is part of the Wilbarger Creek Conservation Alliance, whose mission includes preserving working farms, open space, water, and wildlife habitat in the Wilbarger Creek Watershed.
