Family farm raising grass-fed beef, pastured pork, poultry, and eggs using regenerative practices.
Behind the Oaks Farm is a family-run regenerative farm in Schertz, Texas, stewarded by Zachary and Samantha Platt and their five children. We raise grass-fed beef, pasture-raised chicken and turkey, pasture-raised pork, and eggs. You can shop our products at the on-farm store (open Thursdays and Saturdays), at three weekly farmers markets around San Antonio and New Braunfels, or order online for home delivery on Thursdays. We also offer CSA and subscription options. Visitors are welcome at the farm to connect with the land and animals firsthand. We use multi-species intensive grazing, moving animals through pastures continuously to restore soil through manure and natural weight. Our grass-fed beef is humanely managed with rotational pasture management. Pork is raised in silvopastures beneath live oak trees, rotating and foraging, supplemented with custom non-GMO, corn- and soy-free feed plus locally sourced fruits, vegetables, and whey. Broiler chickens are moved daily in a chicken tractor for fresh forage and fertilization, fed custom non-GMO, corn- and soy-free feed. Pastured turkeys are raised under oak canopy with rotational electric fencing and the same non-GMO, corn- and soy-free feed. We operate a closed-loop composting system: food scraps from local restaurants, grocers, and neighborhoods via Mission Compost; wood chips from a local arborist; and whey from River Whey Creamery. Finished compost is available for purchase so neighbors can regenerate their own soil.
