Wheatsville Food Co-op is a full-service natural foods cooperative grocery store founded in 1976 and owned by more than 24,600 member-owners. We carry a full line of groceries including organic produce, fresh meats, seafood, dairy, deli products, beer and wine, pet foods, and household goods, with an emphasis on local items. Our deli offers hot and cold sandwiches, a rotating hot bar, a salad bar, and a grab-and-go case with vegan, gluten-free, and specialty options. Our in-store bakehouse produces traditional, and gluten-free quick breads, muffins, and pastries in small batches. We also maintain a large bulk foods section stocked with dry goods, organic fair trade coffee and more. Voted Best Neighborhood Grocery by the Austin Chronicle Readers Poll more than 15 times since 2007, we are the only retail food cooperative in Texas.

Organic SKUs can make up as much as 80% of our produce offerings, and we use in-store signage to highlight the percentage of local and organic items at any given time. Our primary produce suppliers are Albert's Organics and FreshPoint, supplemented by local growers including Johnson's Backyard Organic Farms, which supplies certified organic leafy greens, carrots, squash, and radishes. Local supply is highest in late spring and early summer, with smaller volumes continuing through fall and winter. Our seafood selection follows the Monterey Bay Aquarium's sustainability guidelines, and we source fish locally whenever possible. Our wellness department carries bodycare, vitamins, supplements, and natural and herbal remedies that are all cruelty-free. For general merchandise, we stock products created with fair trade ethics and sustainable manufacturing processes in mind. Our bulk section actively encourages customers to bring their own containers to reduce packaging waste.
